Sergei is the first man to land on the Moon. He held a mysterious position in the Soviet Air Force as a colonel before being dismissed for insubordination. He is bilingual Russian-English but his Russian accent is not common, adding to the mystery surrounding him Thirty-something, well packed, he is grumpy and disillusioned by the politics of his country. He falls in love with Svetlana in spite of himself. He is the main protagonist of the story.
